The Beach
We visited Auntie Andrea at the Koops' on Monday before she heads to Tijuana. Victoria was having a beach party so we hung out at the beach. Kellen was in awe of the water. We couldn't get a good picture with him looking up. His eyes were fixed on the water.

Daddy & Kellen
On my way to bed. Just playing with pictures and couldn't resist posting this perfect one. We had a good weekend at the Muirhead farm. Fun for me to get to know Uncle Robert & Aunt Betty. Good to spend some time with Grandpa Cecil. Kellen was in extra fine form all weekend. So many smiles and giggles. He made us proud.

Day in the Park
I was babysitting Arwen today. We spent most of the day in the park behind our house. Kellen napped in the stroller while Arwen and I played. We finally came in the house about 3 and Arwen collapsed and fell asleep on the couch. Hee, hee. My sister says play hard and then they'll sleep hard. We played hard! I love these pics, but really wish I would have noticed Kellen's hat was crooked. Oh, well.
Kellen's Feet
Kellen's wiggling feet kept him entertained for almost an hour. It seemed to confuse him that the bear faces would move when he wiggled. At first it would seem to scare him and he'd get real still and watch the faces, waiting for them to move again. Hee, hee! It was mostly fun for me to watch his expressive eyes.
We've had a busy week here. Ian and I started basement renovations. Getting rid of the 70s red electric fireplace, gold patterned lino, red Hawaiian curtians, 4 different kinds of paneling (which seemed to be put up randomly). I don't know how Ian does it, getting up at 5:30 for work and staying up past midnight all week painting and putting in flooring. I had to take a couple naps this week. Ian often gets obsessed with projects, I'm glad this time its the project that I wanted done. Now the baseboards and my much anticipated desk/work station/wall unit (design still to be determined) are all the remain. I'll post pics when its all finished.
Kathy came to visit Tues and Wed. Thanks to her, the painting got done much faster. Much to my embarassment and Ian's delight. Next time I promise no work, Kathy. Please visit again! She also helped with Kellen while I cooked at the Community Outreach. It was suppose to be a cooking class, but lots of stuff/crisis was going on. She also encouraged/forced me to really run again. We are putting a team together to run a marathon as a relay in the fall. I have been taking it easy when I go for a run, and walk whenever I feel like it...with the excuse that I'm still getting in shape since the baby. Well, he is 4 months old now. Kathy said she enjoyed the payback after the runs I used to drag her on.
Anyhow, there's a little update.

Beautiful Valley
I really like this picture cause it shows how beautiful it is where we live. Mom met up with us at Mosaic and ended up coming out to the Fort for the night since her van broke down. Not nice, but a blessing that she came for a visit. I thought I'd go out for a walk/run with Kellen this morning and enjoy more of this beautiful scenery but we had a visit from a very expectant mother and her 3 yr old. She came to look at the sling and we made plans to go to the beach soon! Anyhow, Kellen fell asleep before we got out and I thought I'd check email and do some weeding instead. Here I am an hour later after looking at too many blogs. Fun though because I found some new ones.

Verdict Is In
I received my exam results yesterday, and I PASSED! I am finally a Registered Dietitian! I could hardly breathe when I saw the envelope in the mail and ripped it open right there. It was hard to not start hugging people in the post office! I walked home with a big grin that wouldn't go away. Seems so long ago that I started school to be a dietitian. What a long path it has been. Oh, the relief I feel. So for a little treat to celebrate Ian & I went for a walk downtown to the ice cream store...now is that a little ironic way to celebrate becoming a dietitian?!

Cousins
I'm sure these are only the beginning of the pictures that these boys will have together. Hopefully not too many of them getting into trouble, but lots of them having fun. I have great memories of times with cousins and am glad Kellen will also.
We took the boys for a walk in the Chariot. Nolan is so sweet...he held Kellen's hand when he was crying. I would have thought the crying would upset Nolan but he took it all in stride and only seemed concerned for Kellen!
Nolan kept wanting to brush Kellen's hair...not that there are many hairs that need to be put in their place!
Thanks Nolan for coming to visit Kellen!

Kellen's Laugh
Playing with Kellen yesterday, I got him to laugh. Jenn was here to get it on video for me, so here it is:

Swimming
This was Kellen's second experience with a pool, but first time I actually put him in the water! I visited a friend also on mat leave, who lives on the lake. It was so beautiful, but not as warm as I thought once we put them in the pool. I think the swimming lastest 5 minutes!
Notice Kellen is sucking his thumb. He has taken up this habit rather aggressively the last few days. Oh, well...

Great-Grandpa Cecil
We were at Michael's delcious birthday supper (which he cooked himself) on Saturday. It was nice to have Grandpa Cecil there. I love this picture of him with Kellen. So nice to know that Kellen will know how much he was loved by his Great-Grandpa. I hope Kellen will have some memories of Grandpa Cecil himself. And, I'm sure Kellen's dad will tell plently of stories so that Kellen will know what a special Great-Grandpa he has!

Canoeing
Okay, here is a post finally not about Kellen. With summer here it makes me think about canoeing. Last year at this time I was on my most fun canoe trip ever! It was exciting, scary, challenging, relaxing, peaceful, beautiful...I could go on and on. Here are a few of my favorite pictures, although there are so many its hard to choose.
Challenging the Otter Rapids was exhilerating!
Watching the plane take off after dropping us left me feeling alive with anticipation for the adventure and slightly abandoned at the same time.
