Getting out!

I feel like spring is here. It is so good to get out with the warmer weather. Kellen loves running around the park and has gotten better at making it through the snow. I think even Lanelle enjoyed getting out - she slept the whole time in the sling.

Ian and I both got to go skiing today. I took it easy, but it felt pretty good. Ian has been obsessed this winter with learning about waxing techniques - and I've got very tired of hearing about it. In fact, some pretty serious threats were made the other night to make him quit talking about it - and he still couldn't help himself. However, I really appreciated it today. Never have my skis felt that good - perfect glide and kick. I think I may get obsessed too. Ian is going to miss his skiing once spring comes. We want to get a Nordictrack ski machine - if you know of anyone with an old one that they'd like to get rid off, we'd love to buy a used one.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Kellen!

Kellen turned 2 yesterday! It was a very eventful day, especially considering we had our worst night yet before the big day! Ian and I had stayed up a little late icing the fire truck cake. I had to take a picture of Ian doing the icing. When he offered to do the red, I first said "no thanks" thinking he wouldn't be particular enough about it. But, I have to give him credit - I was very wrong.

I don't know if Kellen really understood what a birthday is all about, so I kept trying to explain it all morning. Lori, Molly & Anna came for lunch and cake. He had fun playing with Molly and using the paints she gave him. Kristal came for a visit after work. We went to preschool gym night. AND Koops', Auntie Andrea, and Great Aunt Sheena came for cake after that!! Kellen got to blow out candles on his truck cake twice (surprised me that he understood what to do and was able to!)

It's hard to believe he is 2 already! Happy Birthday, Kellen!!

The long awaited room...

Here's what I finally finished doing in the kids room - with lots of help from Grandma Lorna and Ian this week. We really like it and Kellen seems excited about it. My only regret was the blue and pink paint colors - I didn't want them quite that bright. Oh, well. I liked how my fabric covered frames turned out.

Pretty Girl

Mom left today. Jenn and Sarina came to pick her up. What a house full with almost all the Bell cousins - Kayla, Nolan, Ayden, Ariana, Kellen and Lanelle (we missed you Mikhayla!). It was all very busy and very fun, until it was time to go. I know I will adjust to the bigger family but it was not easy to see Mom go. We went out to the Koops' tonight for Victoria's birthday. The first time I've put Lanelle in the carseat since we brought her home. She slept the whole way out and back and pretty much the whole time we were there. She made it seem easy tonight anyhow.

Seeing our family picture made me feel so grateful - for Ian, our entertaining Kellen, and our new joy. I'm looking forward to finding my groove and settling in to a new routine.

More of Lanelle

Lanelle is changing so fast already. Thought I'd better show her off some more. She is not being a very good sleeper again. I don't know how I'll manage without Mom here. I was able to go back to bed and sleep in after Kellen was up, so today wasn't so bad. But after being up so much last night, if Mom wasn't here I would have had a tough day. Dad, I might not let you have her back for awhile!! Since sleep is lacking, I won't linger any longer here...

Welcome Lanelle!

Here's our beautiful baby girl, Lanelle Margaret, born on Friday, Feb 8 at 2:50 pm. She was 7 lbs 15 oz. She definately has red hair. I think she looks a lot like Kellen.
Kellen is really excited about her. He hasn't been too happy that Mom was away and he was really demanding today. I think he will adjust quickly though.
It is so nice to have her with us and get to know her. She wore me out at the hospital. Hardly slept and was hungry all the time. I am so happy that she slept well at home last night and all day today. She is getting on a regular, predictable schedule. I am so thankful to get some sleep!

Another day

Everything was great at the ultrasound. Estimating a 8lbs1oz baby. Couldn't see if it really is a girl. I'm getting more impatient to meet this girl and see if she does have red hair. I may be jinxing myself, but I really think it will be sooner than later.

I won't post pics of the finished room yet, Jenn. I'm going to really finish it. I came down here to work on the project for the wall. I'd love to have it done before the baby comes...but I don't care that much. Come on baby!!

Just keeping the promise

Just saying I'm still here. Waiting.

Kellen & I are finding the days long with Ian gone. Funny when he was working away for the week, it often didn't seem that bad. Now a day seems like forever. Guess we got used to being together all the time. Somebody has to work though.
Kellen likes Daddy's bedtime stories and songs. Nice he can still come home every night right now.
I just got interupted by a phone call to go for an ultrasound at noon. Guess I'd better pack a bag, although I'm sure I'll be home again tonight...

I suppose no news is still news.

I've decided I should start updating the blog everyday now. If there's no new post...you know where I am! Tuesday is "the day" when miracles should happen. Yeah, right. I'm trying to be prepared for at least another long week of waiting. Until then I will keep myself busy.

I've spent the last couple of days looking for my sewing machine manual. Ian got me a real nice machine with his mastercard points at least two years ago I think. I've only used it once. With the project I've been wanting to do for the kids room I thought it was time to dust off the machine and put it to good use. Of course without the manual I couldn't figure out how to set it to try some appliqueing (is that a word?). After laying in bed for over an hour with no sleep tonight (no, I was not fretting about the manual) I got up to look for the manual again - success! I have learned that I have a great machine and its super easy to use, especially with the manual in hand. I've having flash backs to 4-H sewing days with Auntie Maxine tonight!

So, I'll try not to be too impatient this week and stay busy. We are getting anxious to see who this little girl is. (Hopefully that will help us finally decide on a name!) Until now, I think I've been impatient to not be pregnant. Now I want to know if she will have red hair...and if she really is a girl!?

Just in case, I guess I should go get some sleep. Ian had no work last week because of the weather. Probably things will happen tomorrow since we are happy he has work again.
