My Baby Girl

I think lanelle was trying to keep an eye on things while she slept. She's getting cuter all the time and making me fall more in love with her. She smiled and smiled at me today. It's good to take a moment and remember how much I love my kids. I'm tired of not getting a break. I haven't felt like myself this week. I found myself the other evening trying to find baby advil for Kellen but the pharmacy was closed. Both kids were crying in the back seat and I started to also. Not ready to go home and deal with the wailing baby and sick kid I started driving. I just about drove to Regina but realized that was ridiculous and turned around after Lanelle fell asleep and Kellen looked like he was ready to. And I called a friend when I got home. She brought half her medicine cabinet and took off her shoes and said she was staying to help for a bit. When she left I didn't feel like crying anymore, the house was tidied, she'd done the pile of dishes from the day, I'd got the laundry folded, and both kids were asleep. I don't know why its so hard to ask for and accept help sometimes. I've thought lots about that since...but I'm going to bed, maybe another time I'll share what I think about that.

Learning is so fun

I think watching your kids learn must be one of the most fun things in life. I enjoyed watching Kellen process what an easter egg hunt was about. At first he wanted to throw them. It took a couple of explanations to get him to realize it was candy that he would want to keep instead of throw.
I love listen to his ramblings even more now that I can actually start hearing stories and figure out what he's thinking. When we were sitting in the car at mac the moose he was so excited and then suddenly wanted Daddy's keys. Once he got them he says - Out! Help mac the moose. Open gate. Daddy's keys - Ha! He thought he should free Mac!
Today there have been few words spoken though. Poor Kellen. He threw up a couple times this morning and then developed a fever and cried for several hours. I was starting to get worried but he calmed down after I gave him some Advil and he's sleeping now. It's so hard to see him so lethargic.

Easter Weekend

Grandpa Gerry holding the cousins. When I showed Ian this picture he said - it looked even sweeter in real life. ahhhh!
And I think this one of Ariana and her Daddy is one of the sweetest pictures I got all weekend.
And this one gives some some warm fuzzies too - Grandpa and Grandma Ruby with the Great-Granddaughters.
Ian is probably the one to think this is the sweetest picture of the weekend - his boy actually riding, loving, and smiling on "Papa's bike". I'm hearing a lot of "Papa's bike" in Kellen's ramblings. His other recent ramblings have a lot about Mac the Moose in them. I don't think we could pass through Moose Jaw without a visit to Mac the Moose anymore.

Ooops!

Kathy's comment made me realize I'd better be careful and give Lanelle some time on the blog too! This dress is almost too small already so I thought I'd better get some pictures. I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't have that many pictures of Lanelle. I'm sure some day she'll ask why Kellen has way more pictures than she does.

Trucks and Playdough

Seems like I haven't updated in a long time. If I were to take the time to write a wordy blog, it would be about things that I have learned about managing 2 kids. But one of the things I have learned is to prioritize, and this just doesn't make it to the top of the list. Tomorrow play group is at our house and having the house in visitor shape takes priority at this moment. But, just so I don't abandon the blog altogether here are a few pictures.
It was great to go to Amy and Noel's wedding. unfortunately this is the one and only picture I have from the whole weekend - Grandpa and Kellen found something very absorbing to watch after the wedding. I'm going to have to get some good pictures from someone else. I guess my hands were too full for a camera.

Kellen is still enthralled with trucks and machines - they are all called "Daddy tucks or big tucks".

Playdough has been the new activity this week. Kellen has been watching way too much Bob the Builder since Lanelle arrived so I've been trying to think of different activities that will keep him engaged while I'm busy.
That's all I got for now...

Running for help

Last week I ran to my parents for help. Ian was working away and I didn't feel like being at home myself with the kids. Kellen loved going outside with Grandma everyday and spent a lot of time shoveling. I should really post the video of him dumping snow on his face - funny to everyone but himself. We got to visit Great Grandpa and Ruby Bell to show off Lanelle.

And the new cousins got to hang out! Ariana is a sweetheart. Tim figured Lanelle is already being a bad infuence on Ariana, since she spit up shortly after meeting Lanelle. Apparently Ariana is a perfect baby and never spits up! Ariana got a little lecture about choosing friends wisely.
Ian is gone again for the week. So I should really go get in a nap before Kellen is up. It was a very, very, very early morning today, ouch.
