Waiting for my bread...

I have a few minutes until my bread is done. I should have started it earlier. But I didn't, so here I am waiting for it to be done so I won't have soggy bread in the maker tomorrow. So since I am entertaining myself while the men in my house sleep, I guess I'll share some thoughts...

I was doing Kellen's laundry tonight and realized I was smiling while I was doing it. I love the boy so much that it makes me happy to do his laundry! I didn't know how much I could love my child!

About a month ago I heard an interesting conversation on CBC radio that I keep thinking about. It was about children of Holocaust survivors and how they have second generation stress disorders since they learn about the world through their parents. It really impacted me to think about how children learn and how much parents influence their children in ways they don't know. I started thinking about this again today and wondering what things Kellen will learn from me because of how I view the world.

I notice that it seems like all I think about is Kellen when I write... Well, this blog is "All About Kellen." Sometimes I do wonder if it is possible for a mother to get too focussed on her child. Ian said to me once that it scares him how caught up I get in Kellen. Maybe I'll have to start writing about other things in my life sometime... but not tonight, there's the buzzer for bread.

Madison

Kellen & I loved our trip to Madison, WI to visit Matt, Sarah & Paisley! It was beautiful, hot, and humid. Lots of visiting, picnics, and wonderful friends. Kellen did great flying and stayed pretty happy despite his lack of sleep. I was so happy to have the sling, since he always fell asleep in it, even when I was running through the busy airport.

Thanks Sarah for your wonderful friendship. We loved visiting you!

Some Favorites...

Thought I would post some of recent favorite pictures after sorting them and making backups of my many, many pictures. Here's Kellen and I enjoying the holiday yesterday at the Koops'.
Everytime Kellen & I have visited the Mullers, he seems to do a lot of crying. Not sure why, but I guess its all the activity going on with 4 kids there. He does like the girls. This is one of my favorites of him smiling for them.
Kellen was crying when we stopped for gas, so I pulled him out of his carseat and set him in the drivers seat. It was like he instantly knew what seat he was in. I got several pics of him all happy and proud to be there.
Here's his first girlfriend picture. Morgan is just 5 days older than Kellen.

Jolly Jumping

Kellen loves to be held upright and kick his legs, so I decided to get him a jolly jumper. He seems to love it and is catching on. Click here to see his second time in his new toy:

Kellen & Friends

Here's Kellen with his friends! I thought this was so cute. He was quite happy to let me take several pictures while he kept smiling. Although it was hard to keep his friends in the picture. Kellen's flailing arms kept knocking them down. He'll have to learn to play nice with his friends!

Kellen and I are off to Regina today for the weekend. Daddy is playing in the tennis tournament, but Mom is too young to play since it's a senior tournament (you have to be 30!). Oh, well, Kellen and I will have our own fun.

Baby Einstein

I learned the stories are true, babies really do watch Baby Einstein! Kellen was wide awake one day this week when I really wanted to study. In desperation I opened the DVD and was amazed when he quietly watched it.

Studying

Here's why there have been no posts...Kellen and I were studying. I wrote my exam to be an official registered dietitian today. I couldn't even guess if I passed or failed. We are not told what the passing grade is. We are only given a pass or fail. It was a very frustrating exam. Multiple choice. On most questions it seemed I could eliminate 2 and had to guess between the remaining 2. Most times it seemed that both were correct, but we are suppose to know the best answer. Scary thing is if I failed I don't know how I would better prepare for next time. Anyhow, I'm excited to plant the garden tomorrow and do some fun things this week!

Kellen's Story

Okay, I think I may have figured out a way to show you the video of Kellen telling me his "stories". Cross your fingers and click here:

Kellen's Busy Life

We finally bought a crib for Kellen so he can start sleeping in his own room soon. He's outgrowing his little basket quickly!

He's waking up from his first nap in his crib here!

Crazy Eyes is staying warm after bath time!

Okay, maybe these pictures are not so exciting, but it's a baby's life. Even the everyday things seem worth documenting. I actually sat down to post a video I took of him telling his "stories" as I call his babbling. It was so cute, even though he became a little less animated with the camera in his face. I guess I'm technically challenged and couldn't figure it out. So, if anyone can tell me how to post a video, I would be thrilled...

Kellen & Mommy

Here's some of my favorites from the photo shoot with J'nea. Lots of pictures, not so many with Kellen's smile. I think this one is my favorite. I wonder what he thinks when he sees me. I always thought it was kids that strive to make their parents proud. I never realized that a parent would think about who they want to be, because they want to make their child proud. I hope that Kellen will grow up to be proud of the person I am and the mother I am. He makes me want to be better.

Here's why Ian & I often call Kellen "Crazy Eyes". I would love to know why he gets this look and what he is thinking!

I love this boy SOOO much!
